Manchester United’s Stance on Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United is assessing the situation surrounding RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, believing the young player favors a switch to Old Trafford rather than St James’ Park. However, the club is cautious about entering a bidding war with Newcastle United.

Newcastle’s Latest Offer

On Monday, Newcastle presented a second bid for Sesko, amounting to €80 million, along with an additional €10 million in potential bonuses. This attempt follows the rejection of their initial offer. The club is eager to acquire a replacement for striker Alexander Isak, whose future is uncertain due to Liverpool’s interest.

Manchester United’s Recruitment Strategy

United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, is also looking to strengthen his attacking options, especially with Rasmus Hojlund’s situation up in the air. Despite their interest, Manchester United has yet to submit an official offer for Sesko, opting instead to avoid inflating the player’s transfer fee.

Other Transfer Considerations

The 22-year-old Slovenian striker has piqued the interest of Manchester United for some time. Meanwhile, Newcastle is in search of a forward after missing out on Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt.

Previous Targets and Alternatives

Earlier this summer, Amorim’s squad had shown interest in Liam Delap, but the Ipswich striker chose Chelsea instead. They are now considering Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins should Newcastle successfully acquire Sesko.

Manchester United’s Summer Transfer Activity

The Red Devils recently returned from the United States, where they participated in the Premier League Summer Series, and have already made two significant signings. Matheus Cunha was signed from Wolves for £62.5 million last month, followed by Bryan Mbeumo last week in a deal that could reach £71 million after extensive negotiations with Brentford.

Player Movements

In other news, Marcus Rashford has moved to Barcelona on a season-long loan with an option for a permanent transfer. Meanwhile, Manchester United continues to look for opportunities to offload players such as Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, and Tyrell Malacia.
