Exciting Line-Up for BTR Liverpool Events
The Liverpool Born To Race (BTR) organization has confirmed its remaining running events for 2025, including options designed for various skill levels and aiming for personal bests. Alan Rothwell, founder of BTR, expressed optimism, stating, “things are shaping up to be another sell-out success story.”
Dynamic Annual Schedule
BTR Liverpool organizes and manages competitive races and fun runs throughout the city from March to December each year. Upcoming events include:
- BTR Women’s 10K and 5K – September 14
- BTR Wirral 10K – October 12
- BTR Liverpool Santa Dash 5K and 1K Mini Dash – December 7
Among BTR’s notable races are the Liverpool Half Marathon, Mersey Tunnel 10K, Run For The 97, and the Port Sunlight Road Race. This year, medals featuring iconic local landmarks, including the Eros statue in Sefton Park and Perch Rock Lighthouse, are already unveiled, although the design for the Santa Dash remains a mystery.
Record Attendance and Growing Popularity
The previous year saw the Santa Dash achieve record-breaking participation, with over 8,500 runners, the best turnout in a decade. Earlier this March, the BTR Liverpool Half Marathon broke its own record, selling out with 12,000 participants, the highest in its 32-year history.
According to Rothwell, BTR races have been consistently filling up, often closing entries months in advance. He noted, “The last 18 months have seen BTR race numbers steadily rise for each event, with the Liverpool Half Marathon and Liverpool Santa Dash particularly standing out and moving up a level.”
Looking Forward
As the year progresses, Rothwell highlighted the focus on the last three events of 2025. The resurgence of the Women’s 10K last year received a warm reception, leading to the introduction of a new 5K option for this year.
He added, “The Wirral 10K is scenic and flat, perfect for anyone stepping up from a 5K distance and popular with runners chasing a personal best race time. Then it’s all systems go for the world-famous Liverpool Santa Dash spectacular, the perfect way to kick-start the city’s festivities.”
BTR is also planning ahead for 2026, with early entries being received for the Liverpool Half Marathon and 10 Miler. Rothwell remarked, “It’s shaping up to be another sell-out success story.”
Training Opportunities
For those preparing for any BTR events, participating in local park runs can help maintain a consistent training schedule. Additionally, runners may consider traveling to Manchester’s Half Marathon on October 12, which gathers tens of thousands of participants annually. However, the nearest full marathon to Liverpool won’t return until 2026.
