Birmingham City Unveils 2025/26 Squad Numbers

Birmingham City has announced their squad numbers for the upcoming 2025/26 Championship season, highlighting significant changes in their player roster.

Omissions from the Team

Notably, former captain Dion Sanderson and recent summer acquisition Tyler Roberts have been excluded from the squad, indicating that they are not part of head coach Chris Davies’ plans. Neither player has appeared in any of the pre-season matches.

New Assignments

Sanderson and Roberts, who previously wore the numbers five and eight, have had their shirts reassigned:

  • Phil Neumann takes over the number five shirt.
  • Paik Seung-ho has switched from number 13 to number eight.

Both Sanderson and Roberts will not receive new squad numbers, while a shirt has been allocated to Icelandic right-back Alfons Sampsted, who is also expected to leave before the summer transfer window closes.

Goalkeeping Competition

Davies has intentionally left the number one shirt empty, signaling a competitive selection for the goalkeeper position. Ryan Allsop is poised to start the season, with Brighton loanee James Beadle wearing number 25.

New Signings

Among the new arrivals, other players have been assigned the following numbers:

  • Tommy Doyle – 7
  • Kyogo Furuhashi – 9
  • Demarai Gray – 10
  • Bright Osayi-Samuel – 26
  • Kanya Fujimoto – 27
  • Eiran Cashin – 41

Apart from Paik’s change to number eight, the squad exhibited minimal alterations. The EFL has also approved a request allowing Tomoki Iwata, Kyogo Furuhashi, and Kanya Fujimoto to feature their first names on their jerseys instead of their surnames.
